Strut for Strays Walk to benefit MRFRS

The Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society is pleased to invite supporters and friends to join its 18th annual Strut for Strays fundraising event at the Upper Green, Newbury, MA on Sunday, May 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Pets are welcome.

The Strut for Strays, underwritten with Premier Sponsorship from The Institution for Savings Charitable Fund, and a Golden Purr Sponsorship from Chase and Lunt Insurance.  The event features a three-mile walk around Newbury and a festival of more than 60 merchandise and promotional booths, live entertainment and J&C Entertainment.  One of the Society’s Catmobiles will also be on site to provide affordable spay/neuter services by appointment.

Sponsorship, team captain opportunities and booth locations are still available.  Walkers can register by visiting www.mrfrs.org and can raise pledges or form a fundraising team online at www.firstgiving/mrfrs.  All participants who raise $50 or more will earn a free Strut for Strays t-shirt.  Team and individual prizes will be awarded to top fundraiser.

“This is a critical fundraising event for the Society,” said MRFRS Executive Director Bill Piercey, “The economic challenges families have been facing for the past few several years have trickled down to impact domestic animals.  We have seen a dramatic rise in the number of distressed and homeless cats and kittens.  Contributions from the Strut for Strays directly support the health and welfare of thousands of cats and kittens served in our innovative shelter and programs.”

The MRFRS is a nationally recognized, 501 ©3 non-profit volunteer driven organization committed to ensuring the health and welfare of feral and domestic cats and kittens by promoting pro-active, compassionate, no-kill programs.  Last year the MRFRS sterilized over 7,000 cats and kittles.  Since it founding in 1992, the organization has assisted over 50,000 cats and kittens.  For more information, please visit www.mrfrs.org
